Future Forward Fund

The Future Forward Fund provides an opportunity to access resources from trusted organizations that are committed to the success of black-owned businesses and expanding greater Birmingham’s small business ecosystem.

For the February 2024 grant cycle, the Penny Foundation, in partnership with the City of Birmingham, received funds under the federal American Rescue Plan from the public health emergency created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Funding for the Future Forward Grant Cycle is provided based on the economic impacts our clients create in the economy. If you are selected as a grant recipient, we will reach out to report your progress toward certain milestones and to complete our surveys. If you are not selected, the information you share can be provided to other organizations and professional service providers.

The funds have been allotted for the following districts:

District One: Councilor Clinton Woods
District Five: Councilor Darrell O'Quinn
District Six: Councilor Crystal N. Smitherman, Esq.
District Seven: Councilor Wardine T. Alexander
District Nine: Councilor LaTonya A. Tate
